It is our great pleasure to present the Alaska Cabaret, Hotel, Restaurant
and Retailer's Association (Alaska CHARR) 2007 Legislative Priorities
pamphlet to legislators and industry members.
The issues outlined in this document are a reflection of the diverse
interests of our industry. Alaska CHARR sought input from the entire
industry and followed
up
with more detailed requests for input from our eight Affiliates around
the state, and our membership at our Annual Convention.
Our
hardworking Government Affairs Committee spent many hours refining
the list of issues and concerns resulting from our efforts, to reflect
our industry's needs.
Generally,
Alaska CHARR opposes anti-business legislation that would negatively
impact hotels, restaurants, bars and
liquor
retailers. In this document we have provided some examples of the
anti-business legislation we have seen in the past. We are committed,
as an organization, to fight these battles and others that arise,
which would prove harmful to our industry.
Alaska
CHARR also takes great pride in our support of industry-friendly legislation.
As you read this document you will see that we support legislation
that fosters a positive business climate for Alaska's Hospitality
Industry. Issues we support include reducing drunk driving and underage
consumption and appropriate gaming regulation to name a few.
Alaska
CHARR works with other industry organizations on shared interests,
and we look forward to working with our legislators to represent and
protect Alaska's second largest private employer Ð our hospitality
industry.
