Qualifications
for the CHS
Scholarship include:
• Applicant must be an Alaskan resident of at least two years duration prior to applying for the scholarship
• Applicant must be recommended by an Alaska CHARR Member in good standing.
• Applicant must be accepted for admission to an accredited university, college of post-secondary vocational school.
• Applicant must plan to pursue a career in the Alaska hospitality industry.

The Charles H. Selman Scholarship Fund was created in 1995 by the CHARR Board of Directors to benefit committed Alaskans dedicated to excellence in our local hospitality industry. Named after long-time CHARR Member, Charlie H. Selman, the program honors the significant contributions Charlie made to our industry. Since then, the CHS Scholarship has awarded over $100,000 to deserving students, and continues to grow.
In October 2002, the CHS Scholarship Program was entrusted to the newly formed Alaska CHARR Educational Fund, Inc. This change allows CHARR to extend our scope of giving and support to our industry.
