TAP® Renewal

THE RENEWAL

If you currently hold an active TAP® card, or your card expired within the last six months, you may be eligible to complete the TAP® Renewal Test.

The test is completed entirely online and can be taken from anywhere in the state.

There is no instructor for the renewal process. Once purchased, you will receive access to the TAP® eBook, which you can use to study independently before taking the test. A valid, government-issued photo ID is required.

THE EXAMINATION

The TAP® Renewal Test is a single-attempt, online exam. It consists of 40 questions, and a passing score of 87.5% is required.

⚠️ Retakes are not available for renewals.
If you do not pass the renewal exam, you will need to register for and complete either in-person TAP class or webinar.

THE CERTIFICATE

After passing the renewal exam, you will be prompted to complete a short survey. Once submitted, a temporary certificate will be issued and is valid for 14 days. Your new TAP® card will be mailed to the shipping address listed on your profile. The renewed certificate is valid statewide for 3 years.

HOW TO PURCHASE

To purchase the TAP® Renewal Test, you must log in to your Alaska CHARR account HERE..

If you do not remember your login information, or are unsure whether you have an account, please fill out a contact form HERE so we can assist you. Include the following information to help us locate or verify your account:

  • Date of birth

  • Phone number

  • Current mailing address

  • Current employer

Once your account is confirmed, you’ll be able to log in and complete your purchase.
